I hate putting things in drawers because of my forgetful nature, I will inevitably never wear it or use it. I also love things to have an organized chaos with a ton of visual stimulation. So, when my mom asked me to organize her closet it was my dream assignment. So much so that I had to recreate my DIY project in my kitchen to display my grandma's old copper pots.
This is such an easy and not to mention cheap way to display just about anything. There are a few more finishing touches that I want to do just to girly it up a bit more, but more on that later. Step one: Go to the hardware store and get a piece of peg board (about $8.00), know the measurements of your space, and the hardware store will normally make all the appropriate cuts for you for about $0.50. Also get some spacers and drywall screws so that you can hang it properly and a variety of peg board hooks.
Step Two: Pick out a paint color, I used a muted mint green that I am apparently obsessed with these days.
Step Three: Hang your boards, and start arranging your collage of objects. And Voila!
There is nothing that makes me happy quite like chocolate chip cookies. I am always on the search for the ultimate recipe, and everyone claims that they have the best recipe. I am running a test kitchen trying to find out what I think will be the perfect cookie.
These came out pretty good, strangely it was the first time I liked a cookie better after it had cooled. Recipe Below. (Also, I highly suggest using
reusuable parchment paper)
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup light brown sugar
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1-3/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon coffee liqueur
1-1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Cream the butter with the sugars using an electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy (about 30 seconds)
Beat in the egg and the vanilla extract.
In a mixing bowl, sift together the dry ingredients and beat into the butter mixture at low speed for about 15 seconds. Stir in the liqueur and chocolate chips.
Drop about 1 oz. of cookie dough onto a greased cookie sheet about 3 inches apart. Gently press down on the dough with the back of a spoon to spread out into a 2 inch circle. Bake for about 20 minutes or until nicely browned around the edges.

Beans at the Park
Today is the longest day of the year and I am not sure why I look forward to this day every year when I live in Texas and solstice always comes along with 105 degree heat. I plan to make the most of it today by taking my dog, Lua aka Beans, to the dog park and hitting up the Austin trailer park food scene and hopefully Barton Springs after work today.

Maine Root and Gourdough's Smores Donut, a perfect combo
I am not sure where this blog will go just yet, but I'll work it out.
